Me
As an emerging fashion designer, it’s impossible to not think about our planet and the current destruction happening to it. The fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to the world’s overexertion of resources. Water pollution and scarcity, soil nutrient depletion, waste contribution, and toxic emissions are just a couple of the consequences due to the ever expanding fashion industry. Aside from the environmental lens, other issues include child labor, the absence of worker rights, and unlivable wages.
Knowing the truth behind the industry has driven me to develop three main core beliefs focused on naturality, ecological consciousness, and transparency. This has inspired me to explore the idea of circulating clothing and materials. Maintaining this idea all while keeping any production and sourcing as local and secondhand as possible. Preserving these approaches as a designer will make the desire of being transparent in my work easy and hassle free.
Utilizing a circular approach is ultimately a choice that goes against modern corporate capitalism by exploring alternatives over the ruling methods used today in the industry. Taking a stand against fashions disposable culture and hierarchical bureaucratic corporations to ensure environmental and social justice.
